About Productions (AP) creates original interdisciplinary theater works and educational programs that provoke new perspectives on history, humanity and culture. AP is dedicated to generating new work through collaboration in order to create artistic and community dialogue. The purpose of the money is to hire a consultant to train the board of directors and develop a fundraising plan.

Amigas Punto Com helps women and their family to restore their worth and self-esteem and discover their potential in order to achieve the purpose for which they were created. The purpose of the money is to hire a consultant to train the board of directors and develop a fundraising plan.

Another Way improves the quality of life and promotes independence and inclusion in society for developmentally disabled adults and families living in the San Bernardino and Riverside counties. The purpose of the money is to help fund the salary of the ED to work with a consultant to develop a strategic plan and to hire a consultant to train the board of directors.

 

Central Coast Alliance United for a Suitable Economy

Central Coast Alliance United for a Suitable Economy (CAUSE) is dedicated to improving the standard of living of Latino and other low income working families in the Central Coast region of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties by building the organizing and community development capacity of Latino(a) and other communities and labor organizations. Their grant will fund the development of a strategic plan, management and staff training, technology upgrades, and strengthen fundraising systems and infrastructure.

 

Centro Latino de Educación Popular

$15,000/ 1 year

Centro Latino de Educación Popular’s mission is to offer educational opportunities to those without access to other educational resources in order to foster self confidence, open doors to new opportunities, and help participants achieve their goals. Their grant will support the development of a fundraising and marketing plan.

 

Community Settlement Association

Community Settlement Association develops a self-sufficient and collaborative community based on family wellness, education, civic engagement, cultural awareness, and community capacity building.

 

East Los Angeles Classic Theatre

$100,000/ 3 years

East Los Angeles Classic Theatre (ECT) is dedicated to providing literacy education and cultural enrichment to Latino students and English learners, as well as teachers and families throughout Los Angeles, Orange, and San Bernardino Counties. Their grant will be used to build the fundraising capacity of the organization through board training, technology upgrades, and the hiring of a Development Director.

 

El Centrito de la Colonia

$15,000/ 1 year

El Centrito de la Colonia is a bilingual, bicultural center in Oxnard that targets youth at risk of low academic achievement to prepare them to meet the future confident in their bicultural heritage, able to utilize education and career opportunities, and ready to be productive members of the community. Their grant will be used to conduct an organizational assessment.

 

FYI Films by Youth Inside

$10,000/ 1 year

Films by Youth Inside inspires and empowers youth in the juvenile justice system through filmmaking by imparting valuable work, life skills and providing educational and creative options to and helping these program participants gain perspective on their lives and their actions. The purpose of the money is for the development of a strategic plan.

 

Garment Workers Center

$50,000/ 2 years

The Garment Worker Center (GWC) provides resources and opportunities for garment workers to learn about their rights, to develop themselves as leaders and to advocate against sweatshops. Our mission is to empower garment workers in the Los Angeles area and to work in solidarity with other low wage immigrant workers and disenfranchised communities in the struggle for social, economic and environmental justice. The purpose of the money is to fund the executive director’s positions to support the creation of a micro enterprise, and free-trade store.

 

History Makers International

$25,000/ 1 year

History Makers mission is to leverage information, resources and programs bringing together the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Unified School District to provide a comprehensive “enrichment experience” that will create “history makers” in Los Angeles.  History Makers is “tutoring today’s youth, creating tomorrow’s leaders.” The purpose of the money is to hire a consultant to train the board, create a board manual, and fundraising plan.

 

Homies Unidos

$110,000/ 5 years      

Homies Unidos is a transnational organization whose mission is to provide youth and communities with positive and productive opportunities that will permit the reduction and prevention of violence, and allow personal growth. Their grant will fund organizational and community assessment. The purpose of the money is to hire a media and communications consultant and to purchase software to create a communications toolkit and website.

 

Inquilinos Unidos

$40,000/ 2 year

Inquilinos Unidos’ mission is to empower low-income tenants through community organizing, education and advocacy to fight for safe, decent, and affordable housing in Los Angeles. The grant will support organizational assessment and planning. The purpose of the money is to develop a strategic plan

 

Instituto de Educación Popular de Sur California

$137,000/ 3 years    

Instituto de Educación Popular de Sur California (IDEPSCA) seeks to create a more humane and democratic society by responding to the needs and problems of disenfranchised people through leadership development and educational programs based on Popular Education. This grant will be used to strengthen the organization’s infrastructure by hiring an Associate Director, development of an advisory board, and staff training.

IZCALLI transforms the lives of Chicano/a and Indigenous communities from self-destruction to self-determination. We promote cultural consciousness, through the arts, historical education, and community dialogue. The purpose of the money is to diversify a funding base by creating plans for communications, fundraising, and financial management.

JOB invests in the development of community leaders so that they may address issues that affect them, their families and their communities. The purpose of the money is to build the organizations internal and external communications capacity by creating a website.

 

Latino Diabetes Association

Latino Diabetes Association develops and disseminates accurate, culturally relevant information about diabetes, nutrition, exercise, and obesity prevention with emphasis in the Latino and other high-risk communities. The purpose of the money is to hire a consultant to create a strategic and fundraising plan.

Improve the health of Latinos and to address barriers within the public and private health systems that impact access to health care. The purpose of the money is to create a strategic plan, and train members on advocacy and member engagement.

MANA Empowers Latinas through Education, Leadership Development, Community Service, AND Advocacy.

 

Mariachi Scholarship Foundation

$10,000 / 1 year

The Mariachi Scholarship Foundation exists to enhance the education of participating middle and high school students by supporting the study and performance of mariachi music in schools and awarding college scholarships to deserving graduating students who have participated in its programs. The purpose of the money is to hire a consultant to train the board on fundraising in order to create a fundraising plan.

 

Media Arts Center San Diego

Media Arts Center San Diego (MACSD) was established in 1999 to nurture and support media artists working in film, video, audio, and computer-based multimedia to challenge the historical exclusion of under-represented communities and distorted images of these communities by mainstream media. The grant will support organizational assessment, strategic planning and the hiring of fund development staff.

 

Orange County Congregational Community Organization

Orange County Congregational Community Organization (OCCCO) develops grassroots community leadership by engaging low-income residents in the identification of urgent community problems, analysis of relevant public policy, and participation in positive civic action in order to improve the quality of life in their community. The capacity building grant will support financial knowledge and skills development, membership development, and diversifying revenue base.

Lideres Campesinas is a network of Latina, rural farm worker women who seek to serve as socio-political-economic change agents to reduce poverty and discrimination among Latina immigrant communities by promoting the recognition of the indivisibility of their human and civil rights. The grant will fund the development and implementation of a succession plan.

 

Parents for Unity

$10,000 / 1 year

The Parents for Unity ensures equal access to education, promote educational excellence, and support and strengthen the role of the community in school and community revitalization. The purpose of the money is to build the organization’s fundraising capacity by hiring a consultant to create a fundraising plan.

 

Pueblo Education Fund

$68,000 / 2 years

Pueblo Education Fund (PEF) builds social, economic and political power among the low-income working families of Santa Barbara County. The purpose of the money is to develop a county-wide donor program to increase fundraising, and hire a consultant to train the board.

 

Salvadoran American Leadership and Educational Fund

$130,500/ 2 years

SALEF promotes the civic participation and representation of Salvadoran and other Latino immigrant communities in the US, promotes economic development and democracy in El Salvador, as well as advocates for their economic, educational, and political advancement and growth. The grant will fund organizational assessment, strategic planning and the hiring of a Development Director.

 

Santa Cecilia Orchestra

$20,000 / 1 year

Santa Cecilia Orchestra exposes the community to Latin American art through live performances and stimulating music education programs, to share the beauty and inspiration of classical music with Southern California audiences, giving special focus to Latino communities that are underserved and underrepresented by the arts. The purpose of the money is to hire a consultant to create a strategic and fundraising plan.

 

Union de Vecinos

$35,000 / 1 year

Union de Vecinos is a grassroots community based organization with 1,950 volunteers and leaders that make up our Network of Neighborhood Committees. We promote civic participation and the development of community power in the Latino communities of East Los Angeles (Boyle Heights) and the City of Maywood. We are an organization that challenges traditional definitions of community participation by developing models for active community engagement and decision making. We do this through forming neighborhood committees, developing leadership, analyzing community problems, organizing the community, and taking action. The purpose of the money is to fund the director of development to create and implement a fundraising plan.

 

United Latino Fund

$20,000 / 1 year

The United Latino Fund is a philanthropic organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Latinos through a concerted effort of voluntary giving.  ULF provides support for the diverse economic needs of new and developing organizations, as well as, established organizations dedicated to the delivery of human care and social services in our Latino community. The purpose of the money is for the development of a strategic plan.

 

Statue of Liberty Center

$16,500/ 1 year

Statue of Liberty Center is dedicated to the uplifting of disenfranchised immigrant gardeners and their families with an emphasis on enhancing their economic well-being. The grant will support strategic planning and board and staff development.

 

Watts Century Latino Organization

$100,000/ 2 years

The Watts/Century Latino Organization (WCLO) was formed in 1990 to improve the quality of life for all Watts area residents and to ensure that the special needs of the growing Latino population are addressed. WCLO targets needs ranging from government accountability to locally-based service programs. The grant will fund executive management training, a fund development plan, an organizational operating plan and facility development.
