Due to popular demand,
the Funders’ Collaborative for Strong Latino Communities – Philadelphia,
is offering a *special* convening:
Benefits, Risks, & Methods of Sharing Facilities
presented by
Women’s Community Revitalization Project (WCRP)
Convening Description:
Many organizations have considered sharing space with other organizations. They’ve considered this option in order to save money by sharing back-office services like bookkeeping, to collaborate more closely with other groups that serve their clients or share their values, and/or to afford their own facility to build equity and be in control of rental costs.
Women’s Community Revitalization Project, an experienced community-based developer, is offering a workshop on the benefits, risks and possible methods for sharing space for nonprofits. We will cover the pluses and pitfalls of a number of space-sharing approaches, including a partner lead agency’s acting as owner/landlord (either in current space or new space sought by the lead agency), condominium agreements when ownership is shared, and establishing a separate corporation that leases to a number of nonprofits.
A real estate attorney with twenty years of experience in real estate law, in the area of community and economic development, will share model leases, condo agreements, and memorandums of understanding for space and resource sharing. WCRP’s development staff will co-facilitate this workshop and provide advice about risks and benefits of space sharing.
This convening will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at
Women’s Community Revitalization Project from 1:30p.m. – 4:30p.m
(Note: This convening takes place the Wednesday
