Abriendo Puertas provides children and their families a full range of services necessary to enable them to successfully live at home with a supportive family in the community and to do well in school. Their core programs and services include: Child and Youth Development, Family Support Services and Civic Engagement and Community Education. This capacity building grant will be used to implement a strategic plan for board and staff, develop a board orientation manual in English and Spanish, and design manuals for staff training, fiscal, personnel and daily operations.
Aspira Palm Beach

Aspira Palm Beach fosters the education and leadership development of low-income Latino youth through programs focusing on education, counseling, prevention services (drug/alcohol abuse, drop-out prevention, teen pregnancy and gangs) and leadership development. This capacity building grant will be used to develop strategic, marketing and fund development plans in order to increase sustainability and expansion of its program services.
AYUDA

AYUDA serves low-income and under-served Latino children, adolescents, adults and seniors by developing and administering programs for educational, rehabilitative, and psychological treatment through parenting classes, intervention programs for teens and their parents, counseling, services for the elderly and programs for newly-arrived immigrants. This planning grant will be used to refine the organizational mission statement, develop goals and objectives to achieve the organization’s mission, and develop a five-year strategic plan.
Centro Cultural Latinoamericano, Inc.

The Centro Cultural Latinoamericano seeks to promote Hispanic arts and culture and to serve as a bridge to unify the diverse Latino populations of Palm Beach County through the implementation of recreational activities such as painting for children, theatre, music & dance. CCL also provides micro business and computer training courses, an intergenerational program, and U.S. cultural orientation for recently arrived immigrants. This capacity building grant will be used to increase the staff and board’s English language skills and for technological infrastructure enhancement.
Citizens for a Better South Florida (CBSF)
$40,000/ 2 years
CBSF seeks to provide a foundation for understanding environmental issues in South Florida to Spanish speaking Latinos by designing and implementing experiential, multi-lingual education, training and outreach programs that target students, teachers and community organizations. This capacity building grant will be used to diversify and increase CBSF’s financial base of support to ensure sustainability and improve the organization’s effectiveness in delivering quality programs.
Colombian American Service Association, Inc. (CASA)
$40,000/ 2 years
CASA serves Miami’s diverse communities through a network of services and programs that assist the immigrant family through the entire process of integration by providing legal counseling and representation on immigration issues, case management, immigration forms preparation, information and referral, nutrition and advocacy, and small business counseling. This capacity building grant will be used for staff training on advocacy and fundraising, to increase and diversify CASA’s funding base, for technological and website enhancement, and to significantly increase the number of clients served.
Farmworker Coordinating Council, Inc. (FWCC)

The mission of the FWCC is to promote self-sufficiency and improve the quality of life of migrant and seasonal farmworkers through education, advocacy, and access to services. This grant will support outreach efforts to reach agency stakeholders and to improve their computer systems and internal communications, client data management, collection and analysis with an emphasis on staff training.
King David Foundation, Inc.

King David is a multi-service community-based organization which provides family related services to address unemployment, homelessness, violence, child abuse, lack of adequate healthcare services, drugs and substance abuse, HIV/AIDS and other issues that affect the Latin American community in South Florida. This capacity building grant is for resource development/fundraising, strategic planning and technology development.
Latinos United in Action

LUAC’s mission is to provide educational programs and community services to disadvantaged children and adults of diverse cultural backgrounds in the Allapattah neighborhood of Miami by providing classes and tutoring in technology, citizenship, ESOL, FCAT preparation, math, reading, leadership training, internet access and community service, thereby increasing employment possibilities and community involvement levels while reducing drop out rates and the involvement of youth in gangs and criminal activities. LUAC received a capacity building grant to launch a communications outreach campaign, increase their fundraising capacity and operational financial viability and to improve their website.
Light of the World Clinic

The Clinic provides a full range of essential health care and preventative medical services to the disadvantaged, indigent immigrant and underserved minority population who do not generally have health insurance or financial coverage for health care services within Broward County’s private and public treatment continuum. The capacity building grant will support the Clinic’s administrative capacity through the hiring of an Executive Director.
Mujeres Unidas en Justicia, Educación y Reforma, Inc. (MUJER)
$50,000/ 2 years
MUJER’s mission is to promote healthy lifestyles, emotional wellness and stability through advocacy, violence prevention and community education to strengthen low income Hispanic families. MUJER’s primary target population is the Latino and farm worker community and its core programs and services include: Family Preservation, Community Education on Rape/Sexual Assault and HIV/AIDS, Prevention and Intervention of Domestic Violence, Financial and Emergency Assistance, and Community Immigration Services. This capacity building grant is to expand MUJER’s administrative capacity and human and financial resource coordination through the hiring of a full-time Executive Assistant/Resource Coordinator.
Parent to Parent of Miami, Inc.
$10,000/ 1 year
Parent to Parent seeks to build and sustain an active network of parents and families of children with developmental delays and disabilities and addresses the family needs of Hispanic and other minority communities in Miami-Dade by providing information, peer support, educational training, referral, advocacy, and emergency assistance. This planning grant will be used for the development of a strategic plan by promoting sustainability and efficacy by addressing the key strategic issues of the organization.
Teatro Avante, Inc.
$10,000/ 1 year
Teatro Avante provides artistic, educational programs and events to the Hispanic communities in South Florida and other U.S. cities to preserve and enhance the Hispanic cultural heritage. Teatro Avante received a planning grant from HIP to help increase administrative capacity and to hire a consultant to improve its fundraising capabilities by identifying new sources of funding, and by creating and implementing a resource development plan.
