On October 22, 2008 Hispanics in Philanthropy, the Institute for Economic and Social Research at the Universidad Rafael Landivar, and the Fondo Mink'a de Chorlaví; hosted a workshop on migration and local development in Guatemala.
Over 50 representatives from local government, academia and civil society attended the event titled "Socialización y Divulgación." The workshop featured several panels regarding the challenges faced by migrants and the role that they may play in local development.
